‘Organic Chemistry – IV’ caters the needs of B.Sc. Degree Programme. The aim of this course is to give the students an outline of the chemistry of natural products, bio-organic chemistry, supramolecular chemistry, organic photochemistry and spectroscopy. The objectives of the course are : (1) To study the fundamentals of terpenoids, alkaloids, lipids, vitamins, steroids and hormones. (2) To learn the chemistry of soaps and detergents. (3) To understand the structure and functions of amino acids, peptides, proteins, nucleic acids and enzymes. (4) To have an elementary idea of supramolecular chemistry, organic photochemistry and spectroscopy.
